Time for another wild idea. This mixes the fun of a baseball fantasy draft with the speculative side of card collecting and turning that into a contest.
Here's my idea. If we can get 10ish bloggers pay $7 to $10 each and join in a draft. We'll draft the 100 players in the base set of 2011 Topps Finest. Then the CheckOutMyCards.com or Beckett "value" for each card will be recorded. At the end of the season (or maybe at the All-Star break) the "values" are checked again. The blogger with the biggest increase in value win!
The prize will be either a set or box of those same 2011 Finest.
The theory here is the better the player does on the field, his "value" should go up. The rookies have the most to gain but also the most to lose.
What do you think? Would you be in on such a contest? I'm sure I could come up with some 2nd and 3rd place consolation prizes too.
Let me know your interest asap as I think the draft should happen before the season starts.
Thanks!
I'd have to say I would sit that one out. Too much speculation for me. I'd rather have some cards in hand.
